The Matchmaker

ALL ABOUT NEW SEASON makeup, handbags and nail paint...

Here at Sauce, we love a good handbag. But there is nothing worse than bringing it home and finding you have nothing to wear with it. Well, we say embrace the colour! Find a nail polish that perfectly matches (or perfectly clashes). Dig out that bold lippy or wacky eye colour that brings it all together. Just have fun with it because what is fashion if not a way to express ourselves?

01.
We styled the new Gucci Padlock small shoulder bag ($1745.00 NZD) with Sylvester AW 16 diamond slip and leopard printed tee (available in stores soon) and earring by Kate Sylvester (available on request). For makeup we used our favourite red lippy here —MAC Diva. Love how universal this colour is and suits almost all skin tones! It is not too dark that it washes out us pigmented-challenged ladies, and yet has enough depth to pop on a darker skin tone as well. Nails : Faby A Rhyme for Roxanne.

02.
Did anyone say statement bag? Coach satchel ($745.00 NZD) gets a subversively sweet update with a vintage floral print in pop. Worn with Karen Walker chestnut leather jacket and jeans; and single crescent bar drop earring by Meadowlark. The makeup feature of this look is all about the lips, and don’t be afraid to match them to an accessory. As long as you don’t throw a wacky neon eyeshadow in there, we won’t suffer from any ‘80s flashbacks. Keep everything else bare and let your lips speak for themselves. Nails: EssieParka Perfect.

03.
Colourful take on the classic bucket bag. Michael Kors greenwich blue bucket bag ($460.00 NZD) was teamed with Karen Walker AW 16 gold leather jacket (available soon) and jeans; and double cross single hoop byMeadowlark. For this eye, we mixed MAC Clearwater Paintpot and MAC Cyan Chromaline for a bold blue. This is such a fresh take on the liner (is anyone else sick of cat eyes yet or is it just me?) and isn’t as difficult as it looks. Just make sure you check your symmetry and placement in the mirror as you go. Nails: Faby Paper Sky.

04.
Dionysus in bloom. Gucci Dionysus small shoulder bag ($3135.00 NZD) is worn here with Witchery funnel neck top; and rings by Zora Bell Boyd x Walter Crow. Soft nudes ruled this look! A wash of MAC Paintpots in Indianwood and Groundwork over the eyes sets the stage for the perfect barely-there look. Natural brows are trending at the moment, so we used my Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Wiz to lightly fill in gaps and brushed through with MAC Brow Set in Beguile for a bit of volume. Nails: Essie Tuck it in my Tux.

05.
Furla candy bags ($315.00 & $260.00 NZD) styled with Stolen Girlfriends Club AW 16 maxi dress, and vintage earrings. For the slept-in, too cool to care eye, we opted for MAC Smolder Eye Kohl on the lower waterline, smudged out with my trusty #217 blender. Pauline has beautiful doe-eyes, so it was fun to play them up as a feature. Don’t be afraid to highlight your point of difference, whether it is small lips, close-set eyes or big bushy brows. It is what makes you unique. Nails: MAC Mean & Green.
