HOW TO | SEVENTIES TEXTURED FRIZZ

"Dreamy industrial elegance" from lucilla gray at NZFW

The lights dimmed, the audience hushed, the music started and we immediately kicked ourselves for throwing out our childhood hair crimpers.

Lucilla Gray presented her carefully considered collection of bell sleeves, frilled necklines and high-waisted flares destined for a dance-off in retro shades of mustard, rust, charcoal, and just the right amount of white to make the clothes feel fresh and exciting.  Lucilla Gray is bringing back the 70s, and girls,  frizz is officially fabulous.

After a little digging, we discovered the secret behind that fashionable ‘fro from Matt Benns of Stephen Marr :

 1. tightly braid the top section of the hair
2. crimp the ends before leaving it to cook for a while
3. then brushing the heck out of it (to create a textured look that didn’t just float down the runway but instead moved with energy and volume).

M.A.C Cosmetics makeup artist, Blair Gamblin created dewy, slightly flushed skin to match the youthful nature of the collection and models, paired with a graphic liquid liner under the model’s eye in shades of white and powder blue that had us wondering if this was perhaps the best remedy for the dark circles under ours.
