Here's How The Sauce Team Gets Ready For The Holiday Season

SAUCE MAKERS SERIES | HERE'S WHAT WE ARE WEARING, DRINKING AND LISTENING TO OVER THE HOLIDAY SEASON

The holiday season is upon us, and dressing for it is a daunting task. Of course, there are plenty of fish in the sea, yet it is not easy to find the right one when you are running low on inspiration. We have all used the classic excuse of ‘I have nothing to wear’ in a closet full of clothes, but we feel your pain, girlfriend! To make it slightly easier for you, we have got this covered.

Here at Sauce, we pride ourselves in being a diverse bunch, and this trait is not limited to our passports. We have distinct fashion choices as well, which is why, the team, with completely different styles and personalities, picked a party outfit to give you that little boost of inspiration. Think of it as an early Christmas present from the us. Trust us, there is something for everyone in this post. We don’t want to keep you at the edge of your seat any longer, so let us present you our saucy and juicy holiday season fashion guide.

LUCY JANE HOPKINS, STYLIST & SAUCE CONTRIBUTOR

I’m loving bold, bright colours, statement necklaces and pairing cool textures and prints together.

For makeup, I’ve been going full 90s throwback with a glittery eye - perfect for the festive season. I’ve been using Kitten Karma from the Glitter and Glow range by Stila. Keep it sheer or build it up, so much fun!

HOLIDAY TUNE :

I’m just waiting to whip out the Michael Bublé Christmas album again... it’s become a ritual.

Lucy wears TIBI top from MUSE, vintage pants from Japan, FRAY I.D shoes, vintage bag and necklace.

VERONIKA GULYAEVA, CONTRIBUTING WRITER & PHOTOGRAPHER (AND OUR RESIDENT HEARTBREAKER, LUCA)

Anything with a floral print! Also, I'm a nursing mum and lately have been loving skirts and shirts combos/anything with buttons makes my life easier, statement earring and nice sandals or cute pair of sneakers, Gazelles from Adidas are my go-tos to look good and be comfortable while pushing the pram :)

Beauty: Well moisturised face with dab of strobe cream from MAC and a bit of BB cream, bronzer by Bobby Brown, defined brows and poppy coloured lipsticks,  Morange by MAC is my all time favourite. For hair, I'm all about styling it with dry shampoo and super dust for that cool messy/bed hair look.

HOLIDAY DRINK :
Sangrias and Aperol Spritz.

Veronika wears Erdem x H&M look, baby Luca werars Erdem x H&M tee.

CLARA PAFUNDI, CONTRIBUTING PHOTOGRAPHER

Now that summer is starting to hit I’ve been mostly wearing co-ords with really simple silhouettes and stripes. Pants and crop tops mainly. But you will also see me in my high waist denim with a white tank top on shoot days. I usually go with statement earrings and sunglasses plus I have a really exciting new collection of tiny hand bags to accessorise, and I love holding a bag instead of wearing it on me. For casual dinners and events, I’m into this vibe of showing a bit more leg than usual so have been mixing oversized coloured jumpers and miniskirts, or even ditching that mini and wearing nothing underneath. I have a new beautiful bright green jumper that I love! My vintage Duran Duran t-shirt became my new weekend brunch mini dress paired up with with an oversized The Knitter cardy, keeping it simple as per usual.

Beauty: My friend Jess at Saba Salon gave me a really cool hair cut so have been wearing my natural curls with a little bit of Eleven’s Keep My Curls serum, as it’s shorter than usual. I have really curly hair so this has been great to finally be able to wear my hair naturally for a while, feels very refreshing. I use very little makeup during the week so been keeping good care of my skin mostly with a Dermalogica skin care routine. I wanted to start wearing more cream base makeup to contour and highlight my face for a while so I’ve been trying MAC Softly Does It/Tight and Tawny Studio QuikTrik Stick. It’s a little harder to use in the beginning (if you are not used to this kind of product) but definitely the way to go for a more natural and dewy feel. Love it!

HOLIDAY TUNE :

Age of Consent by New Order.

Clara wears Paris Georgia Basics Marnie top, Zara pants and shoes, RUBY squiggle earrings and Erdem x H&M bag.

IRINA SVIATSKAIA, SAUCE JUNIOR BEAUTY EDITOR

I've been super obsessed with everything oversized lately, literally everything (still trying to shake these stubborn extra kilos off). High-waisted oversized pants and jeans, long blazers, trench coats and cool t-shirts. Back in the days I used the holiday season to show off, wearing things that I couldn’t wear in my day-to-day life. Somehow it's changed. I mean, I still enjoy dressing up but now it meets comfort. And, it feels gooood.

Beauty: As the holiday season strikes us, I turn my whole attention to warm Christmassy hues only: brown-ish shades, happy red colour, green as a tree and, of course, gold. That time of the year I go heavy on lips using different shades of red berry lipsticks every day but very easy on my skin. My ideal combo is Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Colour in Rich Berry or Red Velvet and Luxe Eye Shadow in Heat Ray and Sun Flare. And, there could never be enough glitter over the holiday season, that’s for sure.

During summer I barely do anything with my hair, I just blow dry it with a tad of Oribe Imperial Blowout Transformative Styling Creme or Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil

HOLIDAY SEASON DRINK:

I used to be a huge fan of mulled wine during the holiday season in Moscow as it helps you to cope with this incredible cold over there. Here it’s different due to Christmas in summer, thus I switched to wine for now. A glass of fine Pinot Gris (or Gewürz which is my recent affection) is always on point.

Irina wears Will Hamlyn blazer, Paris Georgia trousers,  Ruby earrings and her own shoes.

JEMMA BARCLAY, CONTRUBUTING BEAUTY EDITOR

I have been loving coordinated separates and incorporating as many vibrant colours into my look that I can this holiday season. Celebration = colour!
Makeup: Ruby Woo by MAC has been the perfect christmas red to me for years, maybe paired with a simple eye and dewy blushed skin to tie in the bold colour of the lip.

HOLIDAY TUNE:

Feliz Navidad! As simple as it is, it always goes off in our household and makes me feel that little bit more connected to my Spanish familia celebrating miles away in beautiful Madrid.

Jemma wears H&M top, Paris Georgia Basics trousers, and Homage earrings.

SOPHIA ROSE, CONTRIBUTING JUNIOR PHOTOGRAPHER

I am so into European girl style right now! Maria Bernard, Anne Laure Mais and the brand Lisa Says Gah are total inspos. In terms of makeup and beauty, very into the natural makeup look, dewy glowing skin and a pinkish/red blushed lip. I don't like to wear much product on my skin, but if I do want a more made up look I love a good moisturiser followed by a light foundation paired with the Bobbi Brown face oil for that dewy look. Lips wise, I love a bit of YSL or the Bobbi Brown lip crush lipstick in lilac paired with their clear gloss.

HOLIDAY TUNE:

Summer wise, anything by Tame Impala, Sticky Fingers or Ocean Alley.
Christmas wise—All I Want for Christmas is YOU.

Soph wears RUBY wrap top and pants, ASOS boots and Homage necklace.

JAMEELA-JOUF GATANELA, SAUCE INTERN AND WRITER

I've been really into the whole understated-outfit-with-a really-bold -accessory-look. I think the Holidays is the best excuse to go crazy on earrings, so I'll definitely take the opportunity this year.

Beauty wise, lately I've been into fluffy brows and gloss. I used to be a big fan of the instagram brows trend, but I personally think natural, fluffy brows look better on me now.

HOLIDAY TUNE :

I really like Sam Smith's cover of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" his voice is the perfect pair for staying in with a cup of hot coco nights. If I'm feeling a little fun, I like to listen to Ariana Grande's "Christmas and Chill" album, great record to bust out in parties too.

FESTIVE DRINK :

For a nice hot drink I like Starbuck's Peppermint Mocha, it's literally like Christmas in a cup. For holiday cocktails I love the Gingerbread Twist, it's super refreshing and delicious.

Jameela wears RUBY knit top, white dress, earrings; Deadly Ponies Mr.Wild clutch, and Adidas sneakers.

ZEENAT WILKINSON, CREATIVE DIRECTOR & OWNER (SAUCE STUDIOS & SAUCE MAG)

I feel like my style is constantly evolving as I get older. Also because I am so innovative and hands-on with my work (styling shoot and working behind the scenes) my day-to-day outfit is more like a uniform : jeans, white shirt/tee and leather boots. This summer, I am trialling out a combination of femme dresses and slightly "tough looking" accessories.
My ultimate summer trifecto : statement sunglasses (cat-eye or tinted glasses), summer dresses and my Bassike hat. For night-outs, my best outfits are when I am dressing for my girlfriends, this is when I pull out my fun vintage pieces, sequins and over-the-top jewels! More is more when it comes to fashion.

Beauty wise, I am super minimal during hot months. Moisturised dewy skin, neutral tones, blush cheeks and bright lipstick or tint. I never step out of the house without my Estée Lauder red lipstick in my purse.

HOLIDAY DRINK :

Aperol spritz, s'il vous plaît! Or cava/prosecco.

Zeenat wears Camilla & Marc lyrical mini dress, own boots and  heirloom mini bag.
