velvety goodness

Rich textiles are taking the fashion world by storm. Sumptuous velvet, slinky sateen and faux fur were all over the fashion inventory at Marc Jacobs, Derek Lam, Giorgio Armani, Jason Wu, Gucci, Ellery, Chanel and Topshop Unique's Fall 16 collections. But why should clothes have all the fun? An easy way to bring a fresh take on an autumn trends and palette is through the right makeup. Embrace your inner royal with the perfect "makeup matchmaker".

01.

Nothing cries youth more than a flush of colour on the cheeks. So why not skip the contouring this season and go straight for a cream blush? My go-to is the Balm How ‘Bout Them Apples Palette. The texture is buttery and you can use it on your cheeks and lips. Just smile at the mirror to find the centre of your cheek and blend outwards.

02.

I love a good lip stain, and this look takes it to the next level. I used a bullet eyeshadow brush to blend my Clinique Chubby Stick in Grandest Grape from the inside outwards. I then took (new) The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Stain and repeated the process right in the centre, – amplifying the effect. This works best with matte colours as well as SUPER hydrated lips, as this application tends to highlight any cracks or dryness.

03.

I mixed MAC Red Brick with Texture Eyeshadow to find a colour to match this gorgeous top. I love leaving the lid bare or adding a little Lucas's Papaw for some sheen.

04.

Khaki is the ultimate autumn colour and looks great with any eye colour. For this eye look, I used the velvety goodness of the Dior Beauty Diorshow Mono Eyeshadow in Camouflage. Usually, the idea of a shimmer shadow over the whole lid sends shivers down my spine, but for some reason, this colour defies all beauty rules.
