BEAUTY HACKS I PICKED-UP FROM BEING BACKSTAGE AT NZFW
NZFW 2018 has come to an end (my first fashion week) and although I absolutely drooled over the latest collections of some of my favourite and new-found designers, my heart was really backstage in amongst all of the hair spray and glitter, checking out the top beauty trends on the runway and my, my were they fabulous!
You know the gals here at Sauce love a good beauty tip so we’ve picked out a few of our fave beauty looks this year and put together a wee list so you can achieve them yourself at home. You’re welcome.
KNUEFERMANN - NEUTRAL STATEMENT EYES
Knuefermann’s statement eyes gave a Parisienne chić look and the neutral tone will give any outfit an air of elegance. To recreate this look (do as MAC Senior Artist Kiekie Stanners did) try using the M.A.C Prolong Wear Paint Pot in Groundwork and apply it with a small brush to nail your precision cat eye look. All you need is one product and this is a must have product in any kit.
TWENTY SEVEN NAMES - PAINT THE TOWN PINK WITH HOT PINK OPAQUE
For a sexy and bold statement eye, take a leaf from Twenty Seven Names’ book and opt for the M.A.C Chromagraphic Pencil in Process Magenta, this pretty in pink look will have everyone whispering your name! So chic and works well on almost any skin tone!
RACHEL MILLS - PIN UP QUEEN
To create this modern pin up look like Rachel Mills, you’ll want to use L’Oreal Techni-art Beach Waves Texturizing Spray and the Techni-Art Pli Thermo Modelling Spray to enhance your natural hair texture then finish with the front section of your hair rolled into a side Victory Roll to per-fect the peeerfect pin-up look.
WYNN HAMLYN - MATCH YOUR NAILS TO YOUR MAKEUP
Wynn Hamlyn was on to something with the matching eyeliner and nails combo, this look is super easy to “nail” just choose a coloured eyeliner pencil and match the tone with your nail polish—Match, matchy never seemed cuter.
HEJ HEJ - EFFORTLESS HAIR
The effortless low bun was what Hej Hej opted for to compliment their “no makeup” makeup look. This style can be achieved with a simple, centre parting and a low bun sitting a the nape of the neck, leave a “tail” of hair sticking out to recreate Hej Hej’s signature look.
STOLEN GIRLFRIENDS CLUB - PINK GLAMOUR CHIC AND HERE'S HOW THAT'S DONE
Its no surprise that SGC went for a glam-punk look this year with their metallic eyes. You too can rock this badass look using the M.A.C Powerpoint Eye Pencil in Prussian as a base with Naval Blue Pigment pressed over the top. Wham Bam, thank you Ma’am!
JARRAD GODMAN - MODERN DAY MULLET
Make mullets cool again with this bogan-chić hair do. Pull the hair into a half-up, half-down style and slick the top down with lots of high shine wet-look spray, those, little baby hairs need to be slicked down onto your forehead and add hairpins at the back to lock that look in place. Reow!
HUFFER - GRAFFITI LIPS
For something a little different and outside of your normal (makeup) box, try creating Huffers paint spatter lip look, created by Senior MAC Makeup Artist Kiekie Stanners, by using the M.A.C Mahogany Lip Liner, Dionysus and Double Fudge lipsticks mixed together and Magenta Madness Pigment splattered over the top.
