warm up that winter skin
Skin is always in. However, summer is still a few months away.
There are so many impressive new bronzing and highlighting products that have flooded the market recently that we thought we would have a play around and put together some looks created using the new bronzing collections from Estée Lauder, Elizabeth Arden, Smashbox and Bobbi Brown.
Our Beauty Ed Jemima Kean talks us through the new collections and her favourite products and techniques.
GET THE GLOW ALL YEAR ROUND
WITH ESTÉE LAUDER'S NEW COLLECTION
To create this luminous look on beautiful Jamie, I prepped her skin with the Clarins Multi-Active Jour and the Estée Lauder Genuine Glow Priming Moisture Eye Balm. I then used the new Estée Lauder Highlighting Pen in Bare Blush—such a beautiful, creamy highlighter for lighter skin tones (they also have golden pens called Gleam Glow and Sweetest Thing, which is dreamy on darker tones) that melts into the skin. The best way to apply is straight onto the high planes of the face and blend out with a finger to warm up the product.
SPRING GODDESS WITH
Plush warm cheeks are giving me life at the moment, and I love the combination of the Elizabeth Arden Sunset Bronze Prismatic Highlighter with their Bronzing Powder from the same collection pressed on top for a little more drama. I used the highlighter on the cheeks, washed over the eyes and on the lips (can you tell I love this product?) I also tried out the Prismatic Lip Gloss, which has an incredible shimmer pay off. I can’t wait to try the other colours in the collection.
FIERY BRONZE AND BLOWN OUT EYES FOR BALMY NIGHTS
When is a blown-out bronze, smokey eye not on trend? It’s my go-to whenever I want to glam up without spending 20 minutes perfecting a cat eye. I used the Smashbox L.A. Lights Lip & Cheek Colour as a base for the eyes and for a pop on the cheeks. I then used the Smashbox Contour Powder to warm up the eyes and set the cream. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your products for as long as you have a good primer under the eye, you shouldn’t have any problem with lasting power. For a bit more of a pop, I applied the Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner in Onyx tight along the outer top and bottom lash line and buffed it out. To finish it all off, I went hard with the Smashbox X-Rated Mascara.
