Clare's beauty secrets and tips on hosting a great dinner party
Clare Andrew is the prettiest set of contradictions we have ever met and we love all of her kookiness! The first time we met her we were completely blown away by how genuinely friendly she is, along with her refreshing honesty (so rare these days). Andrew is a talented event planner and stylist–and model.
Clare is a breath of fresh air, kind of what makes her our muse. That. And the girl is insanely beautiful. You can’t help but stop and admire her natural beauty. Stay on if you, like us, are intrigued by this classic beauty.
"I grew up in Auckland, New Zealand, which is where I am currently based. After I finished high school, I spent almost three years living in Paris, which has become my second home. I studied Marketing and International Business at Sciences Politique (a French university based in St-Germain-des-Prés) and also at the American Business School of Paris. I’m lucky to have made such incredible friends from all over the world during my time there. I recently returned to France to be a bridesmaid in my best friend’s wedding.
I love travelling and am always planning my next adventure; it’s what keeps me going!
I’m naturally blessed with a good skin so I don’t need to do much to keep it looking clear. Every morning I wash my face with a Korean Konjac sponge and water—it’s a natural way to lightly cleanse and exfoliate your skin. After that, I moisturise with La Mer moisturising cream, which hydrates my skin and leaves it fresh and bright for the day ahead.
I love my freckles so I never try and cover them up too much. During the day, I leave my face bare, but if I’m going out at night, I use Mac Face and Body Foundation, which gives me a light coverage to smooth out any imperfections.
Unfortunately, I’m prone to dark circles under my eyes, so I use YSL Touche Eclat religiously to cover them up as best I can. As I have such fair skin, I ALWAYS wear mascara; otherwise, I can look really washed out. I have never used anything but Maybelline; it works a charm! During the day, I spritz my face with Estée Lauder Aquaceuticals Mist to keep my skin looking dewy and fresh.
At the end of the week, I use Lush sea salt scrub on my face. I love that it is all-natural and gets rid of any impurities on the skin. Each night, after either using my Konjac sponge or the Lush scrub, I moisturise my face with Estée Lauder New Dimension Sculpt and Glow mask and my neck and chest with their New Dimension Tighten and Tone Neck/Chest Treatment. I love that it makes my skin so silky and soft!
I try not to put too many different products on my skin. There are so many different creams and miracle potions available in the market these days that it’s best to find what works for you and stick with it.
I’m not going to lie; I have tried Botox!
I tested it out as a preventative measure and loved it at the time, but I have since decided that my fine lines give me character and it’s more attractive to age gracefully.
I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT
Smith’s Baumes a Levres Fraises. I’m a lip balm addict!
I’m a sucker for any fragrance by Jo Malone but my favourite has to be Red Roses. I was lucky enough to try their new Basil and Neroli fragrance recently that comes out in September and that’s up there as one of my new favourites.
TIPS ON HOSTING A GREAT DINNER PARTY
It is always fun to have a themed dinner party and to decorate the table accordingly. It doesn’t have to be expensive. It can be as easy as tying a sprig of rosemary around a napkin with a piece of twine or collecting wine bottles to use as candleholders. A wine bottle on its own is boring, but a bunch of 15 look stunning and create an amazing atmosphere. Both ideas are so simple but effective!
When it comes to the guest list, it pays to think about whom you invite to what, and to sit people together whom you think will engage in an interesting conversation. Good food, drinks and music all help to set the tone for a great evening."
