THE REVIEW | LANCÔME’S REGENERATING BRIGHTENING CREAM FOR DAY & NIGHT

Dry winter skin never ceases to creep up on me and leave me pondering each and every time, what’s going on? As if the same realisation on repeat for the past ten years hadn’t quite taken hold in my memory bank. Call it good timing or better marketing, to the rescue is Lancôme’s newly reinvented Absolue range, in particular the Creme Fondant Regenerating Brightening Cream.

What struck me first wasn’t the price tag (cheeky lol) as this is a gifted sample but it does retail at $430. The packaging is beautiful and promises that the contents is precious and as well thought out as its casing. Setting out to resuscitate my failing skin, I’ll be honest, the intoxicating smell of roses caught me off guard. I’ve always been sceptical of products being all scent and no real ingredient. Research was needed for me to fully understand the science behind the French brands re-creation.

Turns out, they know exactly what they’re doing!

THE INGREDIENTS

Not surprising for a 50 year old brand. Harnessing the power of Grand Rose extracts obtaining active ingredients of high purity and amplified regenerating qualities, Absolue and its rose properties are not only ultra hydrating but also fights inflammation and redness and a myriad of skin issues. According to the website, “Bio-tech processes carefully concentrate three exceptional rose extracts, preserving their vital potential. From the leaves, the Lancôme Rose Extract. From the petals, Rose Essential Oil and Rose Concentrate.” So it’s all naturally derived.

WHY I RATE IT

The texture is silky and light but rich enough to feel the instant plump and hydration on application. My skin struggled for a couple of days, settling to a new product. I am 100% relieved I carried on past the first couple of days because my skin has never felt better. It wasn’t long before everyone else started to notice and comment on my skin. After a two weeks of use, I could visibly notice the radiance and plumpness and could feel the hydration and velvet smooth texture on my face and hands for which I would rub excess creme into everyday. The results are just incredible and I for one am hooked!

The issue with the smell is in the past and now I love the happy aroma of roses every morning and night.

Available here for $430, 60ml tub. [Available as a soft creme and rich creme for extra dry skin.]
