Treat Yo Self
Here are some of favourite (tried and tested) products this month, to help you get through the chillier months ahead.
Skin Therapy | Dragon’s Blood Sculpting Serum, $30
Did you know that Kylie Jenner, Angelina Jolie and Gaga swear by Dragon’s Blood?
And no it’s not actual dragon’s blood (duh) or anything as sinister as it sounds. It actually a tree sap extract that has been harnessed for skin medicine for centuries. This cult new product hails from our own backyard (made in New Zealand. whoop!). I’ve been using this serum for the last couple of weeks, and I am addicted. The super light formula instantly hydrates and refreshes the most tired, dull-looking skin.
Elizabeth Arden | Grand Entrance Mascara, $58
Firstly, let me put it out there that I am not a brand loyalist or a snob when it comes to mascaras. As long as it does the job, the rest is irrelevant. Elizabeth Arden recently sent us their new mascara and we discovered a few things: 1. Elizabeth Arden was not joking when they say this mascara is waterproof –it is iron clad. 2. It also contains a Lash Building Complex, which boasts a vitamin-fortified formula that helps condition, treat, and protect lashes. It stayed put all day with zero flaking. Arden for the win!
Jo Malone London | Limited Edition Nashi Blossom Fragrance, 100ml $220 & 30ml $100
Think juicy summer peaches with sophisticated notes of amber and ginger. This zesty, creamy, and luxe scent comes in the coolest dotted packaging (any Yayoi Kusama fans out there?).The limited edition fragrance was created by Master Perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin. Get it before it's sold out. I am serious.
Neutrogena | Hydro Boost Face Masks, $24.99
I have a thing for masks (pretty apparent here). And a good mask is like a 10-minute disco nap for your face. I can go on and on about the goodness of masking and how it is the best skincare discovery for lazy girls (like me). Neutrogena’s HydroBoost Mask is the new addition to the HydroBoost range, and damn–this stuff is good.
Smashbox | Photo Finish Primer Oil, $83
Facial oils are my jam. I have dry, irritated, and ageing skin. So when Smashbox came up with this new release I was intrigued, but I wasn’t sure about the idea of using an oil-base product pre-makeup, things can go horribly wrong there... But I tried it out and it felt super luxe and effective. 50% primer and 50% oil, so it is ultralight. It can also be used for general skincare purposes if you have fine lines and experience dryness. So much more than just a primer.
