Makeup artist Kath Gould is one of New Zealand's most coveted makeup artists. So when she says it's good, you know it's really good. Kath purchased (a few) Stila's shimmer & glow eyeshadows last week and reviewed them for us with some swatches.
AMEN TO GLITTER.
When it comes to all things sparkly I’m an absolute magpie. Needless to say the last few times I’ve been within 100 feet of a Mecca store I’ve ended up with a lighter back account and a heavy shopping bag thanks to Stila's Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow.
From iridescent mermaid shades to burnished bronzes, there’s something to satisfy all needs. The range is divided into two finishes - ‘Shimmer & Glow’ which consists of 11 shades of an opaque metallic liquid - perfect as a base below eyeshadow or to really pop on it’s own and ‘Glitter & Glow’ (14 shades) containing the same metallic base but infused with pearl or glitter.
Upon my last visit to Mecca I walked out with a selection of 6 ranging from light champagne through to a deep gold-infused bronze which will be added to the selection already in my pro makeup kit. Although, I have to admit, since my purchase on Wednesday they keep sneaking back into my own makeup bag - naughty things!
Pro tip: Work quickly with these as they dry fast. For a instant one-product eye look I like to sweep over eyelids and blend with a soft buffing brush, MAC’s 217 is perfect for this.
Swatches left to right: Starlight, Smoky Storm, Smoldering Satin, Rose Gold Retro, Bronzed Bell and Twig.
Stila’s Shimmer & Glow and Glitter & Glow can be found at Mecca stores and online for $38 each.
