THE REVIEW | STUMBLED ACROSS PARADISE FACE MASK
This mask is the first-born child of homegrown Kiwi skincare-brand Girl Undiscovered, started by three best friends Charlotte, Philly, and Sara. Claims to be 100% WILD with ingredients that go beyond organic.
The woman-run, sustainable, philanthropic brand has produced some pretty legit products, and this mask is definitely on top of my list! I have been using the Stumbled Across Paradise Face Mask for a few months now, and it has officially made the cut to my beauty empties list (rare for a beauty editor to use a product until it’s bone dry).
The product is technically marketed as a ‘mask’ but I’ve been using it as scrub/exfoliator on days when I am pressed for time. According to the instructions, the mask can be used three to four times a week and left on for as long as a TV episode (just the way I like it). Since it’s not an ‘active’ mask, it can be left on for a while too, and it doesn’t dry my skin out or cause any irritation.
HOW TO USE IT
1. Mask and leave it on for 15 minutes 2. Add water, massage it, and leave it on for another 10 minutes 3. Rinse off.
The Burmese thanaka (quite similar to sandalwood) is a gentle exfoliating ingredient, and the virgin coconut oil and wild island kanuka honey (sister of manuka honey) form a wonderful cushion to make sure it doesn’t scrape the surface of the skin while exfoliating.
The exfoliating process has been a major boon to my skin, as I often have dry, congested skin with teeny tiny whiteheads around my chin and nose. I give myself an extra scrub around those areas and the result is instant detox and cleansing!
This mask is suited to most skin types. Three months in, this is currently one of my favourite masks, and yes, I will repurchase when I run out!
Burmese thanaka (to polish and plump)
Balinese virgin coconut oil (nourish, moisturise)
Wild island kanuka honey (soothes irritation, redness, blemishes).
