ShiSeido's ON-MAKEUP SPOT CORRECTING SERUM SPF 25+
In my last review I raved about the Shiseido All Day Brightener. All day moisture that protects the skin while letting it breathe. So I thought I’d try out the second product in this new line, the OnMakeup Spot Correcting Serum.
Whereas the brightener gives the skin a dewy glow while offering high protection against the sun, this serum targets dark spots. The company claims it can even be added on top of your normal make up as it blends seamlessly with foundation.
Now, like many others who live in the southern hemisphere, I have been left with a few (million) dark spots from sun exposure. I’m too much of a wimp to go for laser therapy and I’ve tried pretty much all the dark spot correctors out there. So how does this one rank?
Firstly, on the packaging. It’s a handy pen size that can easily fit into your handbag. It reminds me of the iconic Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat, as you click the bottom and only use as much as necessary without wasting the product. So far, so good.
The product itself is slightly thicker than I expected, but smooths out to an even tone. Guys, this stuff really works. My dark spots were instantly covered. I have a tough time colour matching to most foundations (staff at the make-up counters are always fighting over whether I have pink or yellow-based skin. I’m still none the wiser today, so any thoughts are welcome), but the serum blended seamlessly with my skin tone. And it doesn’t budge. All day. My skin was still dark spot-free after 9 hours of continual wear.
Bravo Shiseido. Anything that makes me feel less self-conscious gets a gold star in my book. Roll on the rest of the range – I’m a convert. My wallet won’t thank me, but you can’t put a price on healthy and beautiful skin (disclaimer – unless my bank manager says so. Then I will deny all knowledge of ever saying this).
