I’m from New Zealand and still based here—home is where my people are, and right now that’s here. I am Macedonian-South African by heritage, though.

What’s on your bookshelf at the moment?
A mix of things!

Does music, art or culture influence your personal style?
Yes, 100%. I’m always inspired by what I listen to, I love music.

What’s a song you like to play before you leave for a night out?
‘Green Light’ by Beyoncé.

How do you recharge after a long day of juggling school/work and shoots?
I throw on something comfy, put my phone on Do Not Disturb, and listen to music.

NATALYA KING

Where is home now?

I’m originally from Durban South Africa but currently based in Orewa, Auckland, New Zealand.

What's on your bookshelf at the moment?

I’m reading Just  Kids by Patti Smith and The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk. I’m also a huge fan of horror and the mystical, so I’ve always got something creepy/eerie nearby like Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno Garcia or House of Leaves by Mark Z Danielewski. I love anything that blends the surreal with the unsettling

Does music, art or culture influence your personal style?

YES!! Music and film especially shape my aesthetic, I’m very inspired by the surreal, cinematic vibe of Nadia Lee Cohen’s work. I’m drawn to bold, character driven visuals and love blending vintage references with modern silhouettes.

What’s a song you like to play before you leave for a night out?

‘Vogue’ by Madonna or ‘Toxic’ by Britney Spears.

How do you recharge after a long day of juggling school/work and shoots?

I walk my two chihuahuas, have a long shower, and cook something yummy while journaling or watching a comfort show on TV. I try to stay off my phone and let my mind reset.

The Secret History by Donna Tartt, it’s a mystery novel and I thoroughly recommend.

I love creating my own art but I'm also in a grunge band and I find that that music definitely influences my style the most — I love grungy elements like black and leather.

What I listen to before going out for the night always changes but for the moment ‘Massive’ by Drake is the go-to.

How do you recharge after a long day of juggling school/work and shoots?

A bit of retail therapy and putting my headphones on, if not that, seeing my friends will be my recharge after a long day.
