“I named myself after Sylvia Plath because I loved her poetry especially Lady Lazarus.
My middle name is my mum’s last name, which makes me feel like
I carry a part of her with me.”

Where are you from and where is home now?
I was born in London but raised in Wellington. I’ve got a British passport, but since they left the EU, living in places like Paris or Berlin now comes with all the bureaucracy and barriers. Still, I feel at home in cities that are creatively alive, even if I can’t physically be there.
Where do you shop?
I mostly shop second-hand and vintage. There’s an amazing store in Wellington called Bazaar Bazzar they’ve got wicked pieces and this really playful, curated energy. I love the hunt, the history in clothes. New fast fashion doesn't compare.
Sylvia wears Bodies of Solace top, skirt and leg warmers; Bronwyn footwear and leggings is stylist’s own.
What’s on your bookshelf at the moment?
I’m not a big reader right now, but I love a good video essay. Creators like ContraPoints and Hasan Piker make complex cultural and political ideas feel accessible and alive. Hasan’s videos help me understand the world without feeling completely overwhelmed by it.
Does music influence your personal style?
Absolutely music shapes everything. If I’m feeling dark and mysterious, I’ll play Bauhaus or Christian Death and wear all black. If I’m feeling cunty, indifferent, and a little crazy, it’s bassvictim and DJMEGAN23 all the way. My style isn’t fixed, it shifts with sound, with mood, with subculture. It’s a mirror and a mask.

What’s a song you like to play before you head out for a night?
Anything off Miss Kittin & The Hacker’s first album. It’s one of the greatest ever robotic, cold, like a dancing machine in a sci-fi dream. Her voice is French, sexy, ironic, intellectual. You feel transported dancing to forget everything, even if deep down you know nothing lasts forever.
